Frequently Asked Questions
What is MAF training?
MAF (Maximum Aerobic Function) training is a heart rate-based training method developed by Dr. Phil Maffetone. It focuses on building your aerobic base by training at or below your maximum aerobic heart rate, typically calculated as 180 minus your age.
How does AerobAce connect to Strava?
AerobAce uses Strava's official API to securely access your activity data. You'll need to authorize the connection through Strava's OAuth system. We only access the data necessary to analyze your training compliance and never share your information with third parties.
What heart rate data do I need?
AerobAce works best with activities that include heart rate data. This can come from chest straps, wrist-based monitors, or any device that records heart rate during your activities. The more detailed the heart rate data, the more accurate your MAF compliance analysis will be.
How is MAF compliance calculated?
AerobAce analyzes your heart rate throughout each activity to determine how much time you spent in your MAF zone (at or below your MAF heart rate). The compliance percentage shows what portion of your activity was true aerobic training according to MAF principles.
Can I change my MAF heart rate?
Yes! While the default calculation is 180 minus your age, you can adjust your MAF heart rate in your profile settings. This is useful if you've worked with a coach or done MAF testing to determine a more personalized target.
Is my data secure?
Absolutely. AerobAce follows strict security practices and complies with Strava's API terms. Your data is encrypted, we never share personal information with third parties, and you can request data deletion at any time.
How do I disconnect from Strava?
You can disconnect AerobAce from your Strava account at any time by going to your Strava settings and revoking access, or by contacting our support team. When you disconnect, we'll delete your activity data within 48 hours as required by Strava's terms.
